13-Jun-09 Eric Bogle at The Davy Lamp

We'd neither of us been to an Eric Bogle gig before and when we learnt he was on his final UK tour we knew we had to see him. Well known for many classic songs, eg. 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda' and 'No Mans Land' (also known as 'The Green Fields Of France') we went along full of anticipation for an evening of good music. We weren't disappointed.

The room was full as the evening kicked off with an extended set from the resident band Backshift. Then, after a short set-up break, Eric Bogle and John Munroe took to the stage - John's guitar playing and harmony singing were the perfect complement to Eric's songs.

A grand night was had by all - classic songs delivered with professionalism and an easy manner with the audience who raucously cheered for the well-deserved encore.
